We had a wonderful weekend in Stafford, Virginia last weekend where Solene won another Best in Show, this time at an AKC open show hosted by the American Boerboel Club. Judge Candace Mogavero had such complimentary words for our pretty girl. Solene also won Best FSS on Sunday, and earned 7 points toward her Certificate of Merit. I am so proud of Solene.
Solene is 18 months old, and is the daughter of Claire and Bango.

Today we're celebrating the 4th birthday of our very special girl, BIS CKC/UKC/IABCA CH Neigenuveaux's Ermagarde. Claire is quite a wonderful dog; the first Barbet to win a UKC Best in Show and the first UKC Champion, an ambassador for the breed appearing 3 years for the huge NYC Meet The Breed crowds, being featured on tv and print breed spots, a perfect mother to her 3 puppies, and friendly and sweet to everyone that she meets. We'll always be grateful to Stacy Able for telling us about her litter, and to Florence Erwin for letting her come to America. Claire has changed our lives in so many ways, and every day she brings us joy.

Napa is one lucky puppy. Her family includes her in so many fun activities! Here is a fun video of Napa swimming and practicing her dock diving skills. She is such a brave water pup. She's only 4.5 months old!

Today, as Claire and I drove across the Peace Bridge with the American and Canadian flags flying in the breeze, I was struck by the similarity of our journey in the Barbet world. In the United States, there are currently only 3 people actively breeding Barbet. When I bought Claire almost 4 years ago, I went to Canada to pick her up from breeder Florence Erwin. Claire and I made a few trips to Canada to show in the CKC and finish her Canadian championship. I have a lot of good friends in Canada who also show their Barbet, and we enjoy getting together at the shows. In this breeding for Claire, I chose an active young Canadian dog bred and owned by Chris and Ula Pepper, and co-owned with Paul Hunter. I'm excited to be working with the Peppers and to extend the circle of my Canadian dog friends. Without the Canadian Barbet, there would be very few Barbet in the United States. I am anxiously awaiting going back to Long Sault, ON in August for the Club Barbet Canada waterfront shows. Vive le Canada!

Yesterday Claire and I went to Ontario for a breeding with Obie and things went very well! We'll return on Tuesday for another cover, and hopefully we will have puppies in two months. You can see a pedigree for this litter here.
I'm grateful to Paul Hunter and Chris and Ula Pepper for letting us use Obie for Claire's litter.
